Another Morning

Another Morning

I just read a horrifying article on Lifehacker!!!

If they’re gonna start sending me stuff like this I’m hitting unsubscribe.

You, on the other hand, may really appreciate the excellent tips.  You may have plenty of time left to utilize all this wisdom.  I’m running out of time, but don’t particularly enjoy being reminded of it.
I do think the first one is first-rate, which is probably why they put it first.  That’s what I’d do if I had been given the writing assignment.
Here’s a teaser:  Manage Your Energy, Not Your Time.  That’s actually good advice with sound physiological reasoning to support it.

There’s a link to the article at the bottom of this post.
It’s the one that looks like The Encyclopedia Britannica.

For those of you that would rather grouse about mornings and forget about productivity regardless of your age I’ve included some famous and not so famous quotes on the relative merits of mornings.

The older generation thought nothing of getting up at five every morning – and the younger generation doesn’t think much of it either.  ~John J. Welsh

I have a “carpe diem” mug and, truthfully, at six in the morning the words do not make me want to seize the day. They make me want to slap a dead poet. ~Joanne Sherman

The plans that I made when horizontal are working out now that I’m vertical. ~Betsy Cañas Garmon, www.wildthymecreative.com (2009 tweet, @wildthyme)

I like my coffee black and my mornings bright. ~Terri Guillemets

I’d like mornings better if they started later.  ~Author Unknown

For any of you that read the post about New Year’s Eve and are worried about not being a morning person in heaven—where there is no night, never fear, the good people at Real Simple have ‘got your back’.

JamesClear.com wrote the Lifehacker piece.

Should being a Christian affect our planning and productivity?

I think it has to.  God has a plan for our lives.  For each of us as individuals.  I’ll bet you’ve heard that many times and wondered,”where does it say that?”  Here’s my favorite passage and the one that really captured my imagination as a new believer.

Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
Psalm 139:16

God formed you and then wrote out your story.  Are you enjoying it so far?  Do you think you’re living out what God had planned?  The apostle Paul said he had one big goal in mind for his own life.  He wanted to grab hold of the thing, the reason, the purpose for which Jesus had grabbed hold of him.

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3:12-14

God has something exciting and meaningful for you to do with your life.  It’s something that will give you joy and actually energize you.  And you’ll feel that connection with God that comes only as we get on board with His plan.

Now that’s a reason to get up in the morning!
