Whose life isn’t a handful?

While He walked among us we made Jesus’ life a handful!
My guess:  He loved every minute of it.  His answer to our requests was always “I Will.”  Even people who didn’t ask, think of Peter’s mother-in-law,  received a healing touch.  When the disciples, excellent sailors who knew the Sea of Galilee like nobodies business, asked  Jesus to save them, He “rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.”

Do you need a little calming of the storms today?
Leprosy, Palsy, Fevers, Storms, Demons.  They all flee at His word.
These examples and many more fill the Gospels with the I WILL of Jesus.

It’s not about us or our worthiness.
Do you think these people were so different from you and me?  They weren’t.

Jesus is still saying I Will.

This past week I enabled Gmail for a website.
I’d forgotten that several months ago I joined several (about 10) Google Communities.
I had neglected to turn off notifications and some of these communities, like Inspirational Quotes, have hundreds of thousands of members, who apparently post contributions all day, every day!

All of the sudden I had a Gmail archive of 56,000 emails.

It took a few hours to stop the insanity, but the episode made me think of God’s INBOX.
When Jesus walked among us His days were filled with meeting needs.
Like a mother with small children, He was constantly bombarded with our cries for His help and attention.
Unlike us, He never lost His patience in helping us.

For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
And His ears are open to their prayers. . .
1 Peter 3:12

“What do you want me to do for you?”
Can you hear Him asking?

We let the word righteous trip us up, and we say, “This doesn’t apply to me because I’m not righteous.”
Replace the word righteous with the word forgiven, now does it apply to you?

If you’ve asked Jesus to forgive your sins, then you’ve received righteousness as a gift and you are part of the ‘righteous’.

For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
2 Corinthians 5:21

Remember, it’s not about us and our personal perfection, righteousness is a gift.
He took our sins upon Himself and suffered the penalty of them on the Cross.
Then He made us ‘the righteousness of God in Him.’

His ear is open to the righteous.
What do you want to ask?
He’s listening.

This post reflects thoughts from Matthew 8, Mark 10 and 2 Corinthians 5.
