Today’s Assignment: publish a post that includes a new-to-you element.
I’ve chosen my Pinterest Board ~ Interior Design.

While Pinterest founder Ben Silbermann and a few programmers were still operating Pinterest out of an apartment I joined up and started ‘pinning’.
I’ve had a life-long love affair with Interior design, good upholstered furniture, and art.  I clipped pictures and articles out of my favorite Shelter magazines and eventually had a whole drawer of a file cabinet filled with ideas for projects and potential purchases.  The problem is that I also love gardening, flower arranging, crafts, and easy recipes.  There is only so much room in a house and you have to dedicate a certain amount to storage to the necessary things like groceries, cleaning supplies, and toilet paper.

I was a little freaked out about putting pictures of things in magazines on a website with my name on it, I mean what about copyright infringement?  I didn’t want to end up paying $25,000.00 in fines or spending time in prison, now that Martha Stewart is out–what fun is there in that?  But magazines and companies were quick to realize the potential of having regular people promote their products.  I sent an email to the editor of Traditional Home magazine asking permission to ‘pin’ content and he sent back a kind yes and said they were busy putting together their own Pinterest site.  http://www.pinterest.com/traditionalhome/
I’ve had other yeses from House Beautiful, Christopher Spitzmiller, and IHasCheezburger.com.  In fact, no one I’ve asked has said no, they just ask for attribution.  I still haven’t emptied my file drawer, but since I joined Pinterest I haven’t added much to a real file.  It’s all available online!
For this assignment I’ve embedded my Pinterest Board dedicated to Interior Design.

Are you on Pinterest?  How many times a week do you pin?
