As far as God’s concerned, He is a great topic of conversation. I grew up hearing that you shouldn’t talk about religion or politics. It makes others uncomfortable.

God has a different take on it.

He teaches His children to talk with grace. The best way to do that is to talk about Jesus, He’s full of grace. And truth.

If you want to be a soul winner, you have to learn to add salt to your conversation.

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.
Colossians 4:6

When you talk to people, listen. Listen to the heart need. Then add some salt. Are they in need of hope, deliverance, comfort?

You know where it can be found. And the Holy Spirit will help you know what to say and how to say it well.

Won’t you be brave and kind and tell that person a little of the truth you know?

Maybe you’d feel better knowing that the apostle Paul prayed for the ability to do this very thing.
See, don’t you feel better?

Paul had preached the gospel to groups and individuals. He wasn’t a novice at this.

That’s even more reason for encouragement. Paul never took it for granted. He knew it was a spiritual transaction. God wanted to speak through Paul. He wants to speak through you too. The trick is to get yourself out of the way.

In Romans we’re urged to yield our body parts as instruments of righteousness. (Romans 6:13)
Sounds weird to us, but it means that God wants borrow your mouth, brain, lungs, whatever parts are needed for speech, and let the truth come through you. Paul prayed specifically for an open door, an opportunity to share.

Do you have someone you’d like to talk to? Start praying. And God will give you an opportunity.

He that wins souls is wise.
Only God can win a soul, but He’s chosen, for the time being anyway, to do it through believers.

    Pray for an open door.
Pray for your own unique way to share the truth.
    Behave yourself in the world.
    Recognize that time is limited.
Learn to talk about God without sounding religious.
Pay attention, close attention to others so you’ll know what to share and how to share it with them.

Here’s how Paul said it,

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving; and pray for us also, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison, that I may make it clear, as I ought to speak.
Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer every one.
Colossians 4:2-6

God will help you make it clear and my prayer is that you’ll have the excitement and joy of leading another to salvation in Christ Jesus!
