Mid-Life Madness #1

I’m following the suggestions from the Crack Team at WP Weekly Writing Challenge.

I’m stepping outside my comfort zone.
I’m pushing the envelope of my skill set.
I’m expanding my boundaries.

I decided to participate in this Daily Post Weekly Challenge and give visual expression to a series that’s been banging around in my head.
My problem is that I have no mad graphic design skills.
I have no graphic design skills at all, but I did find an app called graphic design studio that I bought about a year ago when this idea first occurred to me.
So, it appears there is an app for everything!

I tried working with the app when I first bought it, but it didn’t have instructions that explained all the symbols or the sequencing of steps to use them properly, so I gave up and my little app sat quietly in its corner of the Launchpad.

This week’s Daily Press Challenge provided the impetus I needed to try again.

At first I thought my Mid-Life Madness series would fall in the RANT category because I used RED for the background and described a powerful emotion, HATE.

But it could just as easily be STREAM-OF-CONSCIOUSNESS because every morning I am initially grateful for this awesome invention as I put in contact lenses with ease and apply eyeliner only where I want to actually wear eyeliner.
Then, the very instant I finish and my focus moves from a specific task to wander the broader landscape of my face, I feel my animosity returning with a vengeance.
Then I remember that vanity is boring.

The list of suggestions was great and I saved it for the day when I’m stuck and tearing my hair out trying to think of a topic.
Here is the link to the Challenge. Check it out for fresh inspiration.

It took three tries to get the graphic right.
I ran out of time today, but I’ll keep playing with the app and see if I can get the picture in my head to appear on my screen.

A story well told is a thing of beauty, but SHOW & TELL was my favorite part of Kindergarten.
Except for watching Mrs. Mickela try to leave the classroom as her son Mikey hung on her leg bawling like a baby.
As a 5 yr. old that was awesome.

I make little notes of things I want to learn and I found one about three weeks ago.
It was a hot pink Post-it that said: Learn how to make a comic strip on Facebook.

Thanks to this Weekly Challenge, that doesn’t any longer seem so ‘out of the realm of possibility’.
You are doing an outstanding job at making WordPress a blogger heaven.
I appreciate the effort, the input, the great free themes, the clear tutorials, and the support of both staff and bloggers.

And, did I mention that you make it FUN?
