It's one big job made up of a million little ones. You've got this!

It's the secret sauce for your Christian life.

tomorrow

Post title is a quote from legendary Green Bay Packers’ coach, Vince Lombardi.

Tomorrow, you promise yourself, things will be different, yet, tomorrow is too often a repetition of today. And you disappoint yourself again and again.

I have a deadline looming.

The first week of August we leave for 9 weeks in Africa.

Bible studies to finish.
Crafts for teaching children the gospel that need to be made.

Packing, prescriptions, and eye surgery too.

About 45 days from now I’ll leave, ready or not.

Here’s the thing.
Everything I’ll need in those 9 weeks is easier to get here than once I’m there.

Once there I won’t have much time for study or preparation.
The ministry and travel consume almost all of our time.

So I’ve hit on a new strategy for preparation.

Chase 1 rabbit at a time.
Begin and complete 1 task at a time.

Tomorrow I start with a cup of coffee and a huge sheet of butcher paper.
Everything I know needs to be done gets put in a box and then I start working on 1 box at a time.

In the old movie, The American President, Michael J. Fox plays a young political advisor to the President. While trying to secure enough congressional votes, an older political analyst says, “We gotta do one thing at a time.” And Fox replies, “We don’t have time to do one thing at a time.”

There’s a seductive lie in that thought.

It would be great to cross off a couple of things at once, right?
Put a BIG RED X through a few of my boxes on that butcher paper.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might
Ecclesiastes 9:10

That’s advice from Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived.

Scientists now believe that trying to multi-task hinders our productivity by distracting us , breaking our concentration and focus, and causing us stress and confusion over both tasks. Every interruption is the actual time lost from constructive progress and the time it takes to regain concentration, picking up where you left off.

Want to get more done?
Here’s a helpful article I found on the subject.
I really like #3: Single-task both work and rest.

Want to help me prepare for the ministry in Africa?
Ask God to give me wisdom and understanding concerning what to make and what to take.
And for diligence to do the necessary work.

These children are on our hearts for this trip.
