I’ve come back to blogging on WordPress ~ again.
I’ve come and gone like the four seasons here on WordPress.
But each time I go away I find the grass isn’t really greener on the other side, it’s just different. I’ve missed you WordPress. Blogging hasn’t been the same without you. For one thing you’re the biggest and the most customizable platform around. I can keep it simple or I can add a thousand bells and whistles all right here inside WordPress. But it’s the ease and power of blogging on WordPress that keeps me returning and this time I’m here to stay.
The promise of free flowing thought and the simply beautiful new and free themes once captured my imagination and helped me find the motivation to leave Blogger. Remember Blogger? As a Southern Lady might say, ‘bless its heart’, it was so restrictive, kinda like a straight jacket. Maybe it’s changed, but I know it can’t compare to WordPress.
I like writing in my Journal, but inside WordPress the keyboard pulls thoughts from my head and they magically appear in blog format. It’s like the rush I get when buying new paints and canvas or yarns for a new knitting project. Each post is a new beginning that makes me feel energized.
And writing, well writing is like de-cluttering my brain. I discover what I’ve been thinking about, struggling with, or longing for when I sit down to write. Life is messy business, but writing seems to make it all a little more tidy. I like tidy.
My Early WordPress Experience
In the beginning I used free themes and I was on WordPress.com. It was safe and easy. And very friendly. There was such a supportive community and I really felt like I was getting to know people. In fact I had the sad experience of losing a WordPress ‘friend’ when I tried to visit her blog one morning and found a Blog Deleted by owner message. It was a little traumatic and I blogged about it. That post had more comments than anything I’d written up to that time. The link is below.

I am continually impressed by WP blogs. The content is rich, the images dynamic, and the bloggers faithful. What more could you ask, right?
I also want to say thanks to the WP teams that offer us features like The Daily Prompt, The Daily Post, and Weekly Writing Challenge. The prompts are creative and after writing one I’m eager to see what others have contributed. I’m a novice photographer, but I really enjoyed starting with a photograph as inspiration for a post. You all excel at fostering community and helping those of us that have strayed feel at home again.
I wrote you a thank you poem.
Blog Poem
Blog about this
Blog about that
It’s like pulling a rabbit
Out of a hat
Day after day
Like drilling for oil
Reaching down deeper
Writing is toil
Then at last it appears
Like a star center stage
My very own idea debuts on the page
And I know I’ll be back
No I can’t stay away
I’ve given up golf
To blog is to play
