Jerusalem is the stage for Holy Week and the final chapter of Redemption’s Long Story.
This is a special week for people who profess faith in Jesus Christ, for believers, for Christ followers. It’s full of meaning and each successive day adds potent reminders of what Jesus did, what He said, and how God’s long, long plan of salvation unfolded and marched toward the prophesied consummation.
Beginning with a word to the serpent, God told Adam and Eve how He would redeem them.
He demonstrated sacrifice and provided them a covering, a foreshadowing of what was to come thousands of years later in the city of Jerusalem.
See the story in Genesis 3:14-22
To follow Jesus as He completes the work the Father gave Him to do during that last week, begin reading in Matthew 21.
Personally I think every week of Jesus’ life was Holy Week, but I see the significance of this week as our Lord accomplishes for us a magnificent redemption.
The good people at Bible Gateway have a series you can follow.
It’s a great resource for sharing the week’s events with your children. There is a great visual of the Holy Week timeline to help you see the progression of events as Jesus moves through this last week of His public ministry and His work of Redemption.

I’ve been blessed by Ann Voskamp’s posts about Holy Week. You’ll find wonderful suggestions for making the celebration meaningful to young children and the whole family.
The photos are beautiful and her words always surprise me.
Will you spend some time reading the story again and let His love for you touch your heart in a fresh way as you draw near to God?
Today’s reading Matthew 26
