What’s in a name?

Are you a Grandma, a Gammy, a Grams, a Mimsy, a Nana, a Nona, a Noni, an Ona, or as Sheldon Cooper would say—a Mee-maa?

It doesn’t matter as much what your grandkids call you—it matters that you call on the Lord for them.

This morning I came across and old English Revised Version of a verse in Isaiah about the watchmen God had set on the walls of Jerusalem.

What’s that have to do with what the kids call their Grandmother?
I don’t blame you for your confusion!!!!

Maybe I’ll just give you the verse to read, then we can pick up the tattered threads of this conversation 😉

I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day nor night:
ye that are the LORD’S remembrancers, take ye no rest,
and give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
Isaiah 62:6-7 English Revised Version

Ye that are the Lord’s remembrancers.

Now that’s a cool job title.
The Lord’s Remembrancer.
Sounds so good I may get business cards with that on it.

I’ve struggled in the last five years or so thinking I might want to have a last crack at a career.
I’ve felt like Paul—kicking against the goads, whatever those are.
I can tell from the context it’s not good, it feels frustrating and generates pain to go along with the angst.

So I gave that up and decided that work might not be all it’s hyped up to be.
In fact, aside from the paycheck, most people I talk to would not show up on Monday.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about our grandkids.
We have 14.
They range in ages from 5 to 25.

Some are approaching the WHITE WATER YEARS.

This morning reading that verse I realized that I have a full time job.
I am The Lord’s Remembrancer.

I’m staying on that wall and praying for these kids until God establishes each one and causes their lives to bring Him praise in this earth.

Who’s with me?

If you’re a praying grandmother add your name in the comments.

Let’s pray for each other as we hold up these kids and their parents for wisdom, strength, and God’s best for their lives.
You’re welcome to share this post on your FB or Twitter with all your other Grandma friends;)

Prayer isn’t the only thing we can do—but it’s the BEST thing we can do for these kids.

Hey fellow WP bloggers, does anyone know how to add a gif so that it actually appears as the gif instead of a link to the gif.
I see them all the time, but can’t figure out how you guys are getting them into your posts!!!
ARRRGH 🙁
