Happy New Year As the World Turns

Californians get a bum deal on New Year’s Eve.
Our local news channels start airing celebrations from around the world in the afternoon.
At 9:00 PM we watch it all happen in New York and then the rest is kind of anticlimactic .
We’re like the not-cool kids who go to the dance, but just watch others having fun.

Did you know that in heaven there won’t be any night?
Honest. You can argue a lot about Bible verses, but Revelation 22:5 says it pretty plainly, “And there shall be no night there; and no need of a candle, nor the light of the sun; for God will give them light”.

In heaven we Californians, I’m pretty sure we won’t think of ourselves as Californians, will not feel left out. May I speak Valley Girl and tell you I’m totally psyched about heaven. Imagine a place where we all are our best selves all of the time. Imagine a place where everyone fits in and lives with joy and significance. Where no one is ever hurt or neglected, hungry or sick.
Imagine seeing God and feeling the full force of His love aimed right at you.
Imagine heaven.

But, if you’re not a morning person, you might want to work on that in 2014 because apparently in heaven there are no night owls.

Happy New Year to us all!!!
