You Might Only Have One Opportunity Like This One
Today I almost missed a great opportunity.
By the time we arrived at the village I was feeling terrible. Several times I’ve been tired, hot, & sore from being jostled around in the backseat of the truck, but this was different. I felt no physical energy and no spiritual motivation. Before we went in I told Gary he’d have to do all of the 4 hours of teaching.
As I sat and listened to the first message I watched the faces of the women who filled the benches. Then something wonderful happened.
I remembered a message I heard Stuart Briscoe give on 2 Corinthians 5:14.
For the love of Christ constrains us. . .
2 Corinthians 5:15
You have not because you ask not James tells us.
So I asked.
I felt that love of Christ, love for those women who don’t have stacks of books about being a Christian wife and mother, who don’t have Seminars, and Teas, and I remembered how meaningful it has been in my life to receive the truth from another woman.
I saw the wisdom of Titus 2 in a way I’d never seen it before.
God gave the church pastors, but He also gave the younger women the gift of older women.
As I spoke I saw several of the older women nodding in agreement as they heard the translation.
They say “Amen” and clap their agreement to the exhortation.
I know that in the days to come these older women will continue to encourage the younger ones.
There are so many children in the church to be cared for and nurtured in the Lord.
May they have new bonds of fellowship as they help one another, pray for each other, and experience the blessing of seeing God work in their lives.
I’m so grateful to Stuart Briscoe, and to Don McClure who asked him to come to Mt. Hermon all those years ago, and to God who answered my prayer and renewed my motivation and strength so that I didn’t miss the purpose behind our visit to Gbedema.
Don’t miss out on what God wants to do through you.
If you lack strength or motivation just remember,
The love of Christ constrains us.
It channels our lives directing them into the will of God.
