Why We Have to Quit Making Excuses for Ourselves.

DSC_0020 2

Who can find a virtuous woman?
Proverbs 31:10

Do we really want to be this woman?

We know God is willing.
The real question is are we?

Ask yourself this, Am I a virtuous woman?
If you answer no, then tell us why not.

Because if you want to be this woman you absolutely can.

Do you think there’s some deficiency in you that makes it impossible?
Some fatal flaw that means God is stumped. He’s met His match.
Bologna!

Does she intimidate you?

Then you’ve misunderstood her.
She’s totally aspirational.

We’re suppose to want to be like her.
The writer wants us to think She’s All That.
And then we’re suppose to want to be all that ourselves.

God is trying to do us a favor.

He’s laying out what it takes if you want to live a life that matters.
And being very specific about what we need to be and do.
Are you up for that?
Can we add your name to the list?

Because what, may I ask, is your plan B?

Mediocrity.
Yuck.
Who wants that on the tombstone?
Here lies_______, she was totally mediocre at everything she ever did.

Yesterday we talked about the meaning of the word virtuous.
The Hebrew word is chayil.
It translates: strength, ability, efficiency, wealth, and army, or force.

In a word this woman is CAPABLE.

And we can be too.

Now here are a few reminders in case you’ve forgotten:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:13

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us,
Ephesians 3:20

I pray that you will begin to understand how incredibly great his power is to help those who believe him. It is that same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in heaven,
Ephesians 1:19-20

You’re not in this alone.
Because God has given you the Holy Spirit and His word to effect the transformation.

Also, the journey, the pilgrimage we are on is always focused on what’s ahead.

Paul points us to the process that is ongoing in every believer. Sanctification is the ever increasing conformity to Jesus Christ that is taking place in us as we walk with God.

I don’t mean to say I am perfect. I haven’t learned all I should even yet, but I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ saved me for and wants me to be.
I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us.
Philippians 3:12-14

I especially like that phrase, “I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing”.
Is there something else more important that we’re doing? I doubt it.

Let’s end with a question for each of us to ask ourselves; is it time I get serious about following God’s plan?
It’s a big plan.
But, His power and wisdom can make it work in our lives.
What are we waiting for?

We can’t even think (imagine) the things that God can about us. Our plan is small. His plan, His resources, His everything, can be ours. He uses these things in our lives. He parted the Red Sea, He delivered from lions and fire, He walked on water. What do you want to do through me Lord?

So true. When we ask Christ to live through us, to love through us, to serve through us—everything gets transformed.
      This isn’t about our performance.
It’s about a moment by moment relationship with Jesus that brings His grace and power into our everyday lives.

I’ve been meditating on the following today….

You only lead to victory, Chirst Jesus. If I keep following you. I’ll get there.

      I think you’re right.
Romans 8:37 declares we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Thanks for sharing that encouraging meditation.
