Just how much grace do you need?
How much is sufficient for today, this week, this year, or for a lifetime?
Today while cleaning out drawers in a small chest in my office I found a box of staples.
A box I bought 29 years ago.
It’s more than half full; I discovered that when they spilled out.
And I remember giving away several strips to friends in need π
I didn’t think, back then, about buying a lifetime supply, but at this rate—these will outlast me.
God’s grace is like these staples.
We have more than we can ever use, ever need.
And it holds us together!!!
It keeps us in order.
Perched up in the corner of our lives, God’s grace supports us.
But are we using it wisely?
Or is grace like a vast fortune in a forgotten bank account, dormant and neglected, as we try to manage on our own instead of accessing the resource we’ve been given?
Grace could visit us with wisdom, with strength, with patience, and with love. It would change us, refresh us, and comfort us if we’d only put it to work.
He who has the most grace is most conscious of his need of more grace.
Charles Spurgeon
Grace Abounding in a Believer’s Life
What’s your need today?
You have His promise on that.
Psalm 84:11 The LORD will give grace and glory.
Love the analogy! I am so thankful that His grace is always abundant. Be blessed today and find a way to bless someone else.
I’d like to claim credit for the analogy, but it was God using ‘Show & Tell’ to get His message across!
Today I’m hauling bark for my daughter’s garden. She’ll be blessed π
“We have more than we can ever use, ever need.” – beautiful!! π
That Spurgeon, he had a way with words!
Thanks Paul. I love getting your feedback π
I love this, Kelly! I’m going to RB it at my site. You have such a good way of relating things in life to a scriptural outlook. Great post…
Your friend,
Steve Pejay
Thanks Steve, that’s why I wanted to blog, to write about the ‘intersection’ of the divine and the daily. The ways God touches my everyday life, every day! The divine and the daily π
That’s a title for another post…”The Divine and the Daily!”
You keep writing about that intersection of life…it’s busier than many people know!
Enjoy your day in His blessings,
Steve π
Reblogged this on "light and salt" and commented:
I love the way Kelly writes! I hope you do as well…
Kelly, great piece. Grace, just like manna in the wilderness, is sufficient in just the right amount everyday; and there is an unlimited supply available. Nice thought for my afternoon. Thank you!!!!
Thanks Levi! “Just like manna in the wilderness”, that’s perfect. I’ll be looking for my daily supply π
“My grace is sufficient for you.” Amen. Love the analogy, too. I became a follower. Thank you for sharing.
Excellent, following to read some more gems like this!
Hello,
Excited to see more from your blog too! My husband and I also planted churches, your chosen spot looks lovely. I’ve always heard that Californians should feel at home in New Zealand. True??? Also that it’s one of the most beautiful places on earth. I’m a reader, knitter, painter, Missionary/Bible Teacher, and most of all—Jesus worshipper. π
I’m stopping by from Essential Fridays. Apparently the Lord new I needed to link-up late this week because what you’ve written here goes right along with several other things I’ve read this evening. Sometimes I need to hear the same message more than once, I guess. π I find this line most convicting “Or is grace like a vast fortune in a forgotten bank account, dormant and neglected….” I don’t want His grace to lie dormant or neglected. Thank you.
Hi, so glad to connect with other like minded Jesus lovers who thrive on grace!
Every time I think about the reservoir of grace available to us I think of 2 Cor. 6:1 “. . we appeal to you not to receive the grace of God in vain.” He intends we slather it all over our daily lives π
Blessings,
Kelly
Levi, were you in KCMO at Northeast Baptist Church in 1979? Were you on your way to reach the Jews in Mexico City?
