It's one big job made up of a million little ones. You've got this!

It's the secret sauce for your Christian life.

What’s the use of loving someone in a way that doesn’t feel like love to them?
My daughter told me about a book the Young Marrieds group was reading.
It’s about how to effectively communicate your love in a way the other person actually perceives as love.
You’re speaking their language!

That got me thinking.
I want to love God in the way He wants to be loved.

Today I was reading the last chapter of the gospel of John.
It’s the passage where Jesus appears to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias after they’ve been fishing all night.  In the morning Jesus calls to them from the shore.  He asks if they’ve caught anything.  They answer no, not yet realizing it’s Him.  He tells them to cast their nets again on the right side of the ship and they’ll find fish.

They get a real haul.  153 large fish.  John recognizes that it’s Jesus and he tells Peter.  Then Jesus, who’s already cooked a fish and provided bread, invites them to come and eat.  After the meal Jesus turns to Peter and asks him, “Simon, son of Jonas, do you love  me(this is agape love, divine love) more than these?”

Simon answers, “Yes Lord, you know I am very fond of you.”
Then Jesus said.”Feed my lambs.”

The exchange gets repeated twice which always means the truth being taught is very important.
There’s a TAKE HOME POINT in this.

None of us can ever claim to love God with the sacrificial depth of love He has showered on us.
But we can listen when He tells us how to demonstrate our love.

Feeding the lambs was the calling on Peter’s life.
It was the thing Christ was asking Peter to do for Him, for His kingdom.
Feed my lambs.
1 Peter 5:1-4
And Peter, the one who had denied Jesus, loved Jesus by doing what he’d asked.

We can love God in a way that ministers to Him.
That is a completely engrossing thought to me.
Is it to you?

What can we offer to God, what would He like?
Instead of looking for what would be meaningful ministry to us. . .
Instead of trying to figure out what we’re good at, or what we think we’d like to do. . .

Let’s just ask Him.
And wait in faith for Him to speak to us in His Love Language.
Trusting He’ll give us the opportunity in the right place at the right time.

Noah built an ark and warned of a coming flood.
Abraham left Ur and walked throughout the land.
David fought a giant, led the army, and set aside a huge fund for the Temple.
Mary graciously offered her womb.
Phebe carried Paul’s letter to the church at Rome.
Look at the variety of ways they loved God.
You don’t have to do what another is doing.

You just have to discover from God the way you can say I love you.
Ask Him today how you can best show your love.
