Sometimes the worst of times brings out the best in us.

Light shines in the darkness for the upright.
He is gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
Psalm 112:4

Tucked away in the northeast corner of my garden are several hydrangea bushes. They grow in the dense shade and acid soil created by a trio of Redwoods. These aren’t fancy plants. I bought them at my local grocery store. After their blooms were faded I cut them back and stuck them in the ground and forgot about them.

But now look what’s happened.
~ THEY ARE GORGEOUS ~

The most difficult part about difficulties is learning how to survive and thrive in circumstances and conditions that aren’t what you’d like them to be.

We want things to change. We want others to change. But God may have allowed the whole thing so that He can make something beautiful when the time is right.

My first response to difficulty used to be prayer for it to stop. I wanted out. If another person was involved I wanted them to change, to see things from my perspective. I wanted my way. If selfish is our default position, then difficulty reveals it. And selfishness is never GORGEOUS.

Part of maturing is developing the skills to cope with disappointment, delay, and the darkness of no end in sight, no light at the end of the tunnel.

Will it ever end we ask?
Yes.
The very instant we grow in the area God is trying to strengthen and mature.

Is there a dark spot in your life?

Don’t push it out of your thoughts because it’s painful or confusing.

Take it to God in prayer and ask Him to show you how to find the light in the darkness. (Ps. 112:4)
Let’s not drag our feet and wring our hands and hang our heads!
Instead pay attention and draw near to God. He’s the source of LIGHT in the middle of the darkness. Just ask Him what He’s trying to teach us.

An in the right season something beautiful will bloom in us and it’ll be GORGEOUS!

Surmounting difficulty is the crucible that forms character.
