It's one big job made up of a million little ones. You've got this!

It's the secret sauce for your Christian life.

She opens her mouth with wisdom,
and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.
Proverbs 31:26

, How To Be A Blessing To Your Kids

Your children need wisdom if they’re to grow into the adults God is expecting.
Foolishness takes up most of the real estate in their young hearts and minds.
They are most open to receiving wisdom when it’s been candy-coated in kindness.

And you, Mom, are at the very heart of God’s plan to deliver both before it’s too late.

She’s a fountain of wisdom in an ocean of kindness.

Parenting is a long, very long assignment.
It challenges our resources of physical and mental energy.
It makes demands on our character.
It’s a paradox of joy and frustration, of laughter and tears, of purpose and futility.

And it’s the most meaningful, wonderful, significant endeavor most women will ever undertake.

We’ve been in Proverbs 31 for about three weeks now.
This amazing woman has wowed us with her dedication to her husband, her industry and economy, her philanthropy and compassion, and her organization and time-management skills.

But today, today we come to the heart of what she is and does that so enriches her family.

When she speaks, her words are wise, and kindness is the rule for everything she says.
Proverbs 31:26 Living Bible

If you need more wisdom or kindness just ask.
God is generous with both.
He’s already offered.

~ If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
James 1:5

~ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
Galatians 5:22

~ Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,
Colossians 3:12

Today, as I write this, all of you young mothers are in my heart and prayers.
It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the non-stop demands that are part of your everyday life.
I want to encourage you to keep in mind the importance of what you’re doing;
the central reason for your sacrifices.

You are partnering with God to shape lives.
We say we value motherhood in America, but it doesn’t always feel that way to moms.
Most of us feel insignificant and unimportant.
We feel excluded in a culture that measures success by earnings and equates importance with prominence.

Some of you are reaching the end of your long assignment.
Others are just at the beginning.
Wherever you are, God is right there with you.
He never intended you do this in your own strength, or with your own wisdom.
It only takes a moment to call on Him, to receive from Him.

Reach out if you need encouragement and support.
The Body of Christ is suppose to be a channel, a conduit, of God’s love.
Let some other moms around you help share your struggle and carry your burden.
Share a prayer request in the comments section if you’d like.
I’d love to pray for you and your family.

  1. Such an encouraging post, as I am a young mother. I’m married but my husband is in rehab right now so I am living as a single mother right now- my heart goes out to those mothers who are truly single mothers. I have so much (more) respect for them now that I am experiencing some of their difficulties. Thanks for posting, and praying πŸ™‚

  2. SeekingProverbs31 says:

Beautiful picture of mother and son!

Couldn’t agree more with, ” And it’s the most meaningful, wonderful, significant endeavor most women will ever undertake.” πŸ™‚

  3. Thanks.
I think the deep appreciation for the privilege that is motherhood comes with the passing of time. In the hustle and bustle years it’s all we can do to keep the laundry from spilling out into the hallway. In time I’ve come to miss folding all those little socks and undies, t-shirts and pants, and smelling their hair as I tucked them in at night.

  4. Praying that God will sustain and strengthen you through this new challenge you’re facing, also lifting up your husband for deliverance and restoration. Asking that you both come through this stronger in faith and your love for each other. Blessings to you in Jesus our Lord.

  5. rolson17 says:

You are an elegant brush in His hands. I’ve been saving and reading your posts before bed and they leave my heart especially peaceful, an uplifting and inspiring end to my day.

It was particularly useful this evening when I read the line “It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the non-stop demands that are part of your everyday life.” I began to think about how I make my daughter’s meals every night and while that’s exhausting at times, it gives me such great joy… and then I remembered her sandwich was sitting in the toaster from an hour ago when I made it.

You are helpful in so many ways. Thank you for your beautiful writing! 😊

  6. I’m blessed to know moms like you, Jessica, and Jen who remind me of those days long ago when I woke up to someone tugging on my arm wanting breakfast, went through the day without sitting down, and fell into bed exhausted every night. God’s in this with you and others are cheering you on. Blessings.

  7. SeekingProverbs31 says:

Yes, when you are in the midst of motherhood at home, it can be utterly overwhelming and exhausting and incredibly thrilling and joyful …all at the same time! Like the classic Tale of Two Cities, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity…” πŸ™‚

Everyday, I miss my girl. I am still trying to get used to the empty house and she will graduate from college in the spring! I am praying graduate school will be further west and closer to home!

  8. Thank you so much for your beautifully well put together words. It’s very easy to get caught up in the drudgery of life when we should be enjoying the beauty of it. There’s nothing like being a mom. I’m reminded of that honor each time I look at my kids.
Keep doing what you do! πŸ™‚

  9. Love your blog name!
You’re so right, one look reminds us that they grow up so quickly.
We have to fight against the tyranny of the urgent if we’re gonna be victorious in the really important areas of life.
Thanks for the blogging encouragement πŸ™‚
