Do yourself a favor and quit holding on to hurt.

Holding on to hurt can weigh us down.
This great photo and slogan reminded me just how easy it is to get free of the ‘icky’ feeling.
Just, Let it go!

That’s the essential part of forgiveness.
Letting go of our right to punish another for hurting us.
God does it for us all of the time!

and forgive us our sins, just as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us.
Matthew 6:12

  1. A great piece of advice…wish more people would figure this out and practice it!

    • Kelly Grace says:

If you want to live among people, you have to learn to forgive. We all offend others (James 3:2) so we all need to learn to forgive. If I want to be forgiven, then I should forgive first.

      • I have one in particular I wish you could influence for me!

I have tried to seek forgiveness but this person, a professed Christian, wants nothing to do with me nor any forgiveness…

It’s a sad tale. Anyway, enjoy your day and, yes, always love enough to forgive!

        Steve 🙂

Here’s a question for you: what if Paul’s ‘thorn in the flesh’ was a person? Sometimes God allows it. Shimei cursed David (2 Samuel 16:5-13) and David’s response was, “for the Lord has sent him”.
The principle from Romans 12:18 is clear, as far as it’s possible, be at peace with everyone. When we’ve tried to reconcile and the other person refuses, we have no recourse but to leave it with the Holy Spirit.
Keep them in prayer and wait for God to work. Remember Paul and Barnabas split over taking John Mark with them. It happens among the best of brothers and fellow servants.
God bless you for wanting restoration.

          • Hey, Kelly…I think your are right on point with the forgiveness issue from Romans. We can do everything we can think of to gain a person’s forgiveness.

But after that, if we don’t succeed, we have to leave it up to the panoply of God. It then becomes that person who has to answer for it in the final judgment!

As for Paul’s “thorn,” there is more evidence to suggest that the problem is something physical. He had mentioned in Galatians “…see what big letters I write.”

Most commentators feel it was either a eyesight problem, or perhaps even epilepsy or a “fever” of some sort. Remember, the Apostles had their minds “opened up” to spiritual things which were not known yet to man.

Paul could have boasted about that, but he also knew that he shouldn’t because that would be wrong…(prideful not humble). So the Lord allowed this physical problem to remain with Paul and taught him, (and us), that grace was sufficient for all people.

A great comment, Kelly. Let me know what you think!

            Steve 🙂
